Description wiki: Emile, or On Education (French: mile, ou De l ducation) is a treatise on the nature of education and on the nature of man written by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who considered it to be the “best and most important” of all his writings.[1] Due to a section of the book entitled “Profession of Faith of the Savoyard Vicar”, Emile was banned in Paris and Geneva and was publicly burned in 1762, the year of its first publication.[2] During the French Revolution, Emile served as the inspiration for what became a new national system of education.
Description Good Reads: n the 200 years since its publication in 1762, Rousseaus ?mile has been the subject of endless controversy. The work was ordered burned in Paris and Geneva within weeks of its appearance; yet it was read passionately throughout Europe. Goethe called it the teachers gospel, while Kant maintained that no book had ever moved him so deeply. . . . Within this context it is well, perhaps to note a judgment Professor Boyd himself rendered a half-century ago at the beginning of a long and distinguished career in the field of education. I believe . . . that the ?mile with all its faults is the most profound modern discussion of the fundamentals of education, the only modern work of the kind worthy to be put alongside the Republic of Plato. . . . I know of no better definition of a classic.”

Description Original: DO NOT USE AS IS RUN THRU AI James Joyce s collection of short stories has been called the greatest collection of short stories ever written in English. Dubliners is a collection of fifteen pictures of life in Irelands capital city. Joyce concentrates on children and people on the periphery of society, such as housemaids, office workers, music teachers, students, shop girls, swindlers, and unlucky businessmen. Joyce saw his collection as a mirror through which the Irish might examine and see themselves. In most of the stories, Joyce employs a distant yet acute narrative voice to depict their lives in minute detail to the reader. Rather than presenting sophisticated dramas with complex plots, these stories depict everyday scenarios in which little appears to happen a child attends a bazaar, a lady purchases sweets for holiday celebrations, and a man reconnects with an old acquaintance over a few drinks. Though the events themselves may not appear to be significant, the protagonists deeply emotional and often profound insights are. The stories in Dubliners take us inside the homes, hearts, and minds of people whose lives are intertwined and connected by the citys common space and spirit.

Description Original: DO NOT USE AS IS RUN THRU AI Jack London based his classic adventure novel Call of the Wild on his gold prospecting experiences in the Canadian wilderness. Set in the times of the Klondike gold rush where the Yukon and the Klondike rivers converge just east of what is now Alaska, this book is considered a masterpiece. The story centers around a much-loved dog named Buck who is being raised on a ranch in the Santa Clara Valley in California. Buck is kidnapped from his home and shipped off to merciless gold prospectors who use dogs to pull sleds. Buck must shed his pampered domesticated life and become more primitive and aggressive to survive the harsh environment and the other dogs. The story centers on Buck s transformation on his journey to self-reliance and eventual triumph.

Description Original: DO NOT USE AS IS RUN THRU AI Friedrich Nietzsche s Beyond Good and Evil is a no holds barred rejection of Western thought and philosophy, especially as it relates to notions of good, evil, God, and truth. The formerly monolithic Christian religion no longer dominated European thought, and the emergence of Darwinian evolutionary theory, along with the profusion of contemporary sciences, had led many to perceive the world as a fragmented, chaotic, and meaningless mess. Nietzsche argues that false piety and a skewed morality shape the Christian world. Instead, he argues for individualism and the belief in the present moment in what became an original ethics theory, best explained as the will to power. There are 296 numbered aphorisms, grouped by theme and separated into nine parts in this study that confirmed Nietzsches status as the premier European philosopher of his era. This classic philosophy and ethics text was completed only three years before he suffered a mental breakdown that ended his career.
